PAAL is hosting an event at Oslo Pride House! Join us for a panel discussion focusing on LGBTQ activism in the age of Trump. The US and other countries are experiencing a backlash against hard-won gains for equality for sexual minorities, but also for women and ethnic and religious minorities. Right-wing rhetoric has been marshaling aspects of islamophobia, sexism and racism to divide and conquer marginalized groups such as LGBTQ, women, Muslims, and migrants. Intersectional political action recognizes that diverse communities must stand together in order to fight back effectively. If we want to counteract the rhetoric and effects of division, we need a better understanding of how groups are being pitted against each other. To promote greater understanding and mutual flourishing through the rebuilding of social democratic structures, we also must have a better understanding of the work that groups need to do internally and with others. Please join us in exploring the political tactics and personal techniques we can use to defend all our rights through intersectional activism.
