Pride Month may be over, but OurSpace won't let the weather rain on its parade. July 15 is the new date for our third annual Big Gay Picnic! We had to cut it short in June because a thunderstorm hit when the fun was starting. DATE, TIME, AND PLACE Come hang out with OurSpace at Christie Pits Park on Saturday, July 15, 2017! We'll be meeting on the south side of the park that is next to Bloor St from 1:00pm onwards. We will hang a big rainbow flag so look out for that! We'll be there until 5:00pm, although feel free to stay beyond this time. We will secure a few tables, with space both under the sun and in the shade for us to hang out together and create stronger communities. Don't be shy to come say hello to our team! WHAT TO BRING - Friends (including allies!) - Water/drinks - Sunscreen - Sunglasses - Hat - Towel/blanket - Snacks to share - Ball, frisbee, etc. ON DRUGS AND ALCOHOL Consuming alcohol and drug use in public spaces is an offence, however it is somewhat tolerated at Christie Pits. If you are going to drink/get high, we ask that you be responsible for yourselves and mindful of other attendees by being discreet. Also, be aware that some people might have asthma or allergies, which can make it difficult for them to be around smoke. ON ALLIES OurSpace is a collective of young, gay/bi/queer, cis and trans guys working to create spaces where young guys who like guys can come together as a community. That said, we recognize the value that allies bring to our lives and many of our community spaces. For this particular event, we encourage the attendance of allies, including straight and/or cis folks. WHAT’S OURSPACE? OurSpace is a Toronto-based collective of youth leaders who create innovative spaces for young guys who like guys to come together, learn from each other, discuss social issues, and have fun! Through interactive workshops, discussion groups, and social events, we strive to empower each other with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to support our overall health and well-being.
