cruiser update 12/8/2008: There have been some changes with staffing, mgmt that are making things better for the most part. You can't please all the people but for the majority that do go and have a good time they know what goes on. And for those that are looking for "" in the bar , they need to write their congressman, because in the State of PA, we are governed by the PLCB which tells us that we cannot allow full frontal nudity or ual contact...ie bj's, anal, etc... the staff does the best it can with not being so strict that it is like a No Fly Zone, and for those that complain... try to be less judgemental, because there is more to it than you realize... Jock Strap Night is better due to some changes, Underwear Night is Back with no cover, and you can keep your shirt on,,, it is an option if you want to be in your underwear or partially clothed or just keep your pants on.. the drink specials are constantly being revamped and there is always something that is in the works etc, For example, Dec 14th we are having a Christmas Decorating Party with patrons being encourged to help decorate there will be food , and drink specials for those who participate... First Friday Trivia Night is returning in Jan with new ideas, prizes, there is even a web site for it....

previous comment: After you go to all the other bars, clubs and discos in Gay Philly, you will find The Bike Stop to be the reason it has been around the longest with the most faithful following of all the same establishments. It's a little bit like everyplace you want it to be.
Crowd: Just about all the gay, and straight-curious or Bi guys in the Greater Delaware Valley get here one time or another, 21 to 60-something. Especially those into leather or who want to be or meet guys who are, or biker types, some women who are bikers and lesbians (there are a few [who gather at the Pit Stop-the basement level of the Bike Stop]).

Neighbourhood: 12th and Walnut

and after 8 pm any day
  • Cruising Info/ Tips:Buy a drink for someone you are interested in, send a note, exchange info using the comp cards, use hankies to advertise your specific interests (my hottest tip here - and if you don't have hankies they can be purchased at the gear box in the Pit Stop). Hankies have a way of attracting attention here. As good as being friendly and able to talk to other guys.
Cruisiest Spots: Depends on your preferences. Sports, then the second floor sports bar: The Short Stop; Leather, Bikers, Bears: the basement bar: The Pit Stop; Dancing, the top floor; my favorite is where everybody meets: the main floor, The Bike Stop.
  • Nudity / Policy:No nudity, no public
  • Wheelchair Accessible:No / No elevators between the 4 floors, narrow doors and steep stairs; it's on a cobblestone alley.
  • Warnings:There is nothing to eat but chips, pretzels, and the like in bar snacks during most operating hours; and only camels are sold here. Eat before and bring your own.
Warnings: The clientel polices itself. It is a friendly, polite, respectable establishment. Step out of line, however, and you are out of there before the law has to come for you. See " Policies" below.
