San Gregorio Beach
1commentApproaching its 40th anniversary, clothing optional, privately run, San Gregorio is America's oldest nude beach. Amazingly, it was founded in 1967, right next door to San Gregorio State Beach. Mostly gay oriented but sometimes and adventurous couple or two will participate as well.

The guide
Where exactly
To reach San Gregorio, take CA 1 toward Half Moon bay until you are between mileposts 18 and 19. Look very carefully for the entrance to the beach. It is on the west side of the highway, just north of CA 84. Look for a gate with the address 119429 on the gatepost. Drive down the gravel road, past a small lake towards the ocean and park in the parking lot there. There will be an attendant who will collect $6 for parking. Then travel down the path to the beach.
When to go
Any day that is sunny and warm. Weekends are always good.
Sunset today · Sunrise tomorrow
Etiquette
Follow the path between the driftwood structures on the sandy slope leading down to the beach which are used by some as " condos." Just do what comes naturally.
Nudity: The attendant will tell you directly that there is no on the beach, quite obviously no one follows that rule. Careful of the rangers that patrol sometimes on tricycles.
Safety
None, this is an amazing beach.

The crazy cowboy who runs a parking lot overlooking the gay section thinks that he also owns the beach and will come down and threaten you.
