Birling Gap Beach

A lovely setting. Sun, sea and surf. Chalk cliffs provide a gorgeous backdrop. The beach is pebbly but the serenity of the south facing beach more than makes up for the comfort factor. There is a hotel with pub on the top of the cliffs which provide good food and a welcome cold beer. This is quite a trek if you are venturing away from the bottom of the steps leading to the beach, so taking your own refreshments is advised.

The guide

Eastbourne (East Dean), East Sussex. Follow the coast road from Eastbourne (West) or Seaford (East). Take the road signposted Beachy Head/Birling Gap in the dip at East Dean. Follow this road for approx 2-3 miles. Car park and hotel on right. Park in car park, steps lead to pebble beach. At bottom of steps, head right.

Cruisiest spot: Right of steps is an unofficial nudist beach. Some nice sights on view. Mostly str8 immediatly after steps. Walk along the beach as far as possible. Gay blokes tend to pitch a spot furthest to the right of the steps, away from main beach area.

When to go

Etiquette

Strip off and advertise! Play it cool and you will get your . TIPS: take plenty of hydration, something comfy to lay on, something to wear on your feet, something to eat, a good book, and plenty of sun lotion. Can be a great sun trap in nice weather. BEWARE: of fast incoming tides, the further along the beach you venture, the more likely you are to pull, but this also applies to getting stranded at high tide.

Nudity: Yes / Unofficial nudist beach.

Safety

Some old men who don't get the message. Let them look for a while and they will eventually leave. Give them something to remember in their old age, it's probably gonna be the last decent young they're gona see...let them enjoy for a couple of minutes then roll over and get that arse tanned! Also beware of str8s who are surfing or catching crabs, oysters, mussels, etc. They seem to be tolerant but be discreet.
