Oxford Road Lock (Rochdale Canal)

There are several ways to get down here. From Canal Street, walk down by the canal under the bridge in front of The New Union. From Whitworth Street, just walk down one of the side streets beside Bridgewater House / NCP Car Park / No 1 Oriental Buffet and go through the gates that lead to the canal towpath. From Oxford Street, go down the steps at the side of Felicini (next to Sainsburys) then come back on yourself under the bridge.

• Hours:Early hours after pubs/clubs have closed through to about 6.30am. People walk along this path in the morning, daytime and early evening to go to/from work and the village.
• Cruising Info/ Tips:This is a good place for locals to pick up and take people back to their place. Avoid just standing around as this will only draw attention to the place. Parts of the path can be seen from the road above. Action takes place under the bridges.
• Nudity / Policy:Anything goes (but dont get caught).
• Wheelchair Accessible:No / Accessible but the slope down from Canal Street can get slippery/icy in winter so be careful.
• Warnings:Just be discreet and sensible, otherwise will end up with cameras and police presence as has happened at the other end of Canal Street
