Montrose Harbor Magic Hedge

Is This Your Business?

Bird sanctuary with lots of thick bushes and tree stands out on Montrose Point, across road from Montrose Harbor. Handy dead-end trails into bushes on left side, closer to road, even more trails on the right side out on the Point. The place is literally crawling with men who want to get their rocks off and the men who want to HELP them get their rocks off. Not a simple park stroll--and not for the boys who worry about mussing up their hair! Park on the road and walk in, or ride your bike out. Mostly Regular Joes--pretty boys stand out too much and don't get a lot of action out there. The place is good for action even if it's cold or wet--I've been out there, and as many as 3 dicks at once there, too. Once you know someone is there to cruise, don't be bashful--they help to watch for unexpecting birdwatchers and straights. Shoreline revetment work still going on past the chainlink fence as of May 19, 2003.
Crowd: Late 20's to early 60's, a lot of regular Joes and Hispanics, a few Middle Eastern and Asian men. Guys looking mostly for blowjobs in the bushes, and some looking for a piece of ...and lots of men willing to and bend over a tree.

Neighbourhood: In Lincoln Park at Uptown

  • Probably picking up now, but I'd be careful the next few weeks at least. This is a favorite place that a few community activists get involved with the police regarding since some people have been less than careful in the past.

Oh, and TastesGreat, of course the police call it the magic hedge. There's a sign there that the park district has calling it the magic hedge. The park district website refers to it as such as well.

  • DO NOT GO HERE.

Even the cops call it the Magic Hedge. I happened to be in the 23rd District Station recently (no, I wasn't in trouble . . . ) and overheard cops talkinga bout patrolling the Magic Hedge.

    DO NOT GO HERE.

Really, it's way too public, and way too populated for cruising.

  • Easy place to take a trick to after dark--close-by spot without cops--head west on Montrose. First street after the EL tracks is Clifton. There's a two-story brick building with a small parking lot about half-way down the block on the right. Park there in the back...go back between the EL tracks and the loading dock, and you're shielded from view.

  • Guys - just plain don't go here. The cops know all about it. They get complaints. And they're all over it, and they should be.

Just leave it alone. There are plenty of other venues in this town.

  • Checked this place out this past week (jul '08), it was very busy. I got there about 8pm just before sunset. After dark, it was hard to navigate through the brush. Had many good encounters. There was one person with a personal pen light - which sent many running. The police do roam this area - becareful ! will go again !!!
