What a beautiful day for a walk in the park. Sunshine, light breeze, a couple of bikes and some families walking, butt absolutely nothing to catch my attention off the beaten path. No hint of activity anywhere. Dissapointing!!

If what FORMERMEMBER says is true, then it can only mean the end of an era. Strathcona Science Park is, as far as I'm concerned, now off the cruising radar.

Warning: On Sunday May 9th, aggressive male, 27, 160 lbs, blonde hair, bike, with video camera and red and white striped can (believed to be mace or bear spray); suddenly and aggressively approached three males who were sun tanning at the far eastern end of the plateau. Male began making threatening statements and actions alluding he had them all on tape and that he had their license plate #s and was taking video and #–s to the police. Male raced on bike to follow three males to parking lot where he continued to insinuate allusions to activity he supposedly witnessed. This male is on a mission. He has little fear in approaching people and making threatening accusations and actions. He is aggressive and hostile. He may also have a female (blond, long hair) accompanying him (seen on 2 previous occasions) and he also has a large sized dog. Male did file a complaint with the RCMP who subsequently followed up on the complaint. GOVERN YOURSELF ACCORDINGLY

My comments earlier about this spot came directly from the horses mouth. I was out there walking my dogs one early evening last year as it is a great place to walk, and the police stopped me and I asked if it was a safe place and they said there was concern regarding johns and pros as well as stolen cars getting abandoned out there and vandalism. You can see the vandalism on the property and teens drinking out there sometimes. They said nothing about cruising but then again they are not stupid.

Well I can see the RC's being there for the "cruisers" but I can also see them there for the johns/prostitutes and or drug deals. Think about it, in the last five or so years, where have most of the dead prostitutes ended up? In the Sherwood Park area. Its a fairly remote area, so why not sell drugs out of there as well? I for one aren't really into "outdoor" cruising since I got popped about 10 or so years ago, but too each their own.

As for the R.C.M.P. there this is not city of Edmonton property it belongs to the County of Strathcona, the RC stop in after pulling over speeders along 17 St. this is a nice quiet park and hope that it stays this way, met some great people here. Look forward to a nice warm summer.

FYI ... This place is big on prostitution, girls bring their johns there as well as stolen cars get dumped out there, underaged drinking and drug use. The police presents is to reduce the crime in the area as well as reduce vandalism that is also a problem. The odd gay out there for fun is also being addressed...
