Pole 67 Beach is one of Hawaii's lesser known nude beaches, but is has become a popular alternative to Honokohau Beach (Kona coast's favorite beach prior to anti-nudity enforcement). Attracts small crowds, many of whom are gay. The beach has wonderful white sand and offer some shade. There are no facilities on the beach, so bring water, etc. The north end of the beach is preferred by nudists.

The guide

Where exactly

From Kailua Kona head north on State Route 19 (Queen Kaahumanu Highway)for about thirty miles. Turn left (west) onto Puako Beach Rd. for a short distance and take the forst right onto Old Puako Rd. As you head north, with the ocean on your left, note the numbers on the telephone polls. Watch for #67, park nearby, walk to bluff above ocean and hike down to the beach. The north end of the beach is nudist.

When to go

Mid morning until late afternoon.

Etiquette

Nudity: Yes / Exercise the normal discretion needed when an area does not offically sanction nudity.

This beach has been great for action for some time. No patrols and everyone understands the cruise scene...

Definitely nude, generally gay (but not exclusively). It is mostly tame but action can occur.
