This place is impressive! This is a "beautiful overlook" with picnic tables. It sits on top of a large hill, with lots of vegetation. So it is very well hidden and also you can not see what goes to the top of capital from the freeway below. There are many routes that lead down the behind of capital into the timbers. After you detect somebody you want, you can drop a route as well as play. Every sort of man that exists gos to this place. Cowboys, bi-married men, blue collar guys, nouveaus riche, university young boys, mid-20s people, 30's guys ... they all visit for a quickie!
Hours of Activity
Any time of the day! It's always busy and it's always cruisy! Midday and afternoons are good. Evenings seem even busier!
Who's Coming
This is about an hour east of Austin, on Hwy 71. It lies midway between Smithville and La Grange. It's just on the Fayette county line. There are blue TxDOT signs that read "Scenic Overlook" on both eastbound and westbound lanes. You can't miss it! The overlook is 1.7 miles East of the Fayette / Bastrop county line (In Fayette County).

- Park, then walk around till you find someone you like. Or you could hang out near a picnic table and then wait for someone to come to you.Cruisiest Spot: Picnic table at the far corner of the rest area. It overlooks oncoming traffic and the highway below. If you park at the far picnic table you will see a trail that leads down into the woods. Guys will often go down there to "take a piss" and be close enough that you can still see them. I would not suggest the trail after dark, it's uneven from rain run off. Fine when you can see where you are going.
